Wave of the Day

  All wood sculptures ship free! (US Only) (Limited Time)   For this piece, I wanted a perspective of what it looks like to get "caught inside". For those of you that aren't familiar with this term, its when a surfer is paddling out and cannot get past the breaking surf to the safer part of the ocean (the outside) in order to find a wave to ride. As chaotic as it may be to be in this position, it does offer you a beautiful perspective. You quickly realize just how mighty and powerful ocean waves can be. A new level of respect is gained.   I wanted the lines on this wave to really pop so I painted the sides of each cut white which are usually dark brown. As you walk around the piece, the curves really stand out, continuously drawing your eye towards the center of the piece.   Similar to one of my most popular pieces "HOKUA", where the wave goes beyond the frame, I cut down the height of this piece so the sun would go beyond the frame.
